May 7 is National Health Worker’s Day by virtue of RA 1009. The HCWM Project honors our health workers at the frontlines of managing wastes from hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities.
The Philippine Healthcare and Mercury Wastes Management Project (HCWM Project), led by the DENR–Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) and BAN Toxics, visited three hospitals in Mindanao to engage potential partners in the regions of Northern Mindanao, CARAGA, and Davao.

30 January 2025 – the Project Steering Committee of the Philippine Healthcare and Mercury Wastes Management Project held its inaugural meeting to finalize the project’s five-year work plan.
31 January 2025 – The Philippine Healthcare and Mercury Wastes Management Project kicked-off its five-year implementation with a national workshop, marking the end of its inception phase and the execution of its comprehensive work plan.
25 January 2025 – The Philippine Healthcare and Mercury Wastes Management Project (HCW Project) recently conducted a Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) survey to evaluate community awareness on healthcare waste management.
17 January 2025 – The Philippine Healthcare and Mercury Wastes Management Project held a forum in celebration of International Zero Waste Month, highlighting the need to promote Zero Waste Practices and Principles in the Healthcare Sector.
Following the inception meetings held between May and June 2024, the Philippine Healthcare and Mercury Wastes Management Project kicked off a series of consultations on data-gathering activities with its partners hospitals and surrounding communities.
The two-day National Capital Region Regional Inception Meeting and Validation Workshop for the Philippine Healthcare and Mercury Wastes Management Project (PHCWMP) concluded in Quezon City yesterday, June 11, 2024, wrapping up the series of meetings intended to validate and refine the project’s strategies.
The Philippine Healthcare and Mercury Wastes Management Project (PHCWMP) concluded its second leg of regional inception meetings in Eastern Visayas with high hopes after identifying possible interventions to address key healthcare waste challenges at the project’s partner hospital.
